I've Googled it and this one doesn't have a serial number on left side of Barrell just forward of receiver. Just a stamped number "9". That's it. Barrel markings say: "REMINGTON ARMS CO. INC. ILION, N.Y. MADE IN U.S.A. PATENT PENDING Other markings on gun are standard Remington Fieldmaster 572 stamp on left side of receiver.

For a long time Remington 870’s serial numbers were located on the barrel but not the receiver.
