On my 2005 forester at least 3 of the heat shields upper and lower have begun to get loose and rattley. There seems to be about 5 five different pairs of these shields. The bolts holding them together are completely rusted out.

I had a similar sound on my 2011 when first accelerating around 1500 rpms. Same thing, checked under the car for heat shield rattling but everything was secure.
