I was going to say that a paladin more specifically hospitaler did it for me on challenging, then I remembered I had a druid with pet, a sacred huntsman, a Str monk, and a bunch of summons front lining for me.At level 5/6 with power attack and cleave, in a single cleave attack I've cleared out 3-4 mobs at a time. Often hitting for 20+. And I took the 1st mythic ability that stacks damage. So it will just get better. In Kingmaker my PC was a 2h sword user and he was probably my most consistent heavy damage dealer end game.

Pure alchemist is pretty straightforward. You want a high INT to use every spell and a good DEX score so that you can hit things with a crossbow and bombs. 16 minimum for both of those stats.
