About. The refuge is open daily from 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset including all federal holidays. This includes the Wild Goose Auto Tour loop and refuge hiking trails. There is no charge to visit the refuge. The refuge is home to more than 300 species of birds, 30 types of mammals and 40 species of reptiles and amphibians.
