And there is a back up plan to h...Greetings fellow Volt aficionados, I'm looking to buy and fix a crashed 2015 Volt. The car got rear-ended and there is damage to the rear bumper and the trunk. There are no major drivetrain or electrical components around the area of the crash as far as I can tell. The car is listed as not starting and not running, and does not come with any keys.

Drove it about 80 miles on Tuesday, using gas and electricity, all was fine. Drove it to work (about 5 miles) Wednesday morning, all was fine. Went to drive it home, found it totally dead. 2011 Chevy volt ICE won't start. Sat for a year, fully charged the battery with voltec charger, installed new 12 v battery, new plugs, new coil pack filled & filled with gas. Car drove on electric and the gas engine never started, and said engine unavailable and then loss of propulsion. Felt the engine and its cold still after 10 miles drive .Could be the 12 volt battery getting weak. Another possibility is anything plugged in to any of the power ports. You will be able to lock the door and unlock it, but you won't be able to start the car (afaik). The actual key fob has a passive transponder in it - most car keys have had them for a couple decades now or so. There is a detector in the key slot. No transponder, no go. The only repair is replacement of the BECM. It is covered under the 8yr/100k Voltec warranty. You will need to visit your nearest Vol certified GM dealer.
Volt won't shift into Park or Low. I drove my Volt about 10 miles to a restaurant. I pulled into the parking spot and was unable to shift into Park. I could shift into Drive, Neutral and Reverse, but not Low or Park.
