Sampotes is a forgettable hammer. Azothane looks cool, but its shockwave gimmick is largely useless and 2h nikanas still have only one stance (and it sucks). It's a thematic choice. The stance is a reference to Zatoichi, a blind swordsman who uses his blade in a reverse-style grip.
