It appears to be the flex coupler in the power steering. This started a few weeks back. Kia has recalled newer models that use the same part but will not take ownership for 2012 models.The steering problems in the 2012 Kia Soul were mainly due to a clunking sound while turning, a bad steering coupler, and the steering locking while using. There were many reports of the Soul making a clicking or popping noise while turning the steering wheel either direction.
